The Canyon Lake FFA attended the 80th annual Texas FFA Convention in Lubbock, Texas July 14th-18th. At the convention members were awarded the Bronze New Horizon Award, the Texas Superior Chapter Rating and a Gold rating in the National Chapter Award Program. The National Chapter Award program is designed to award FFA chapters who actively implement the FFA mission and strategies. These chapters improve chapter operations by using a Program of Activities (POA), which emphasizes student development, chapter development and community development. Chapters are rewarded for providing educational experiences for their entire membership. Chapters apply for this award to let the public know the chapter’s accomplishments, receive recognition for members’ efforts and develop pride in the chapter. Texas FFA chapters with a Gold rating advance to National competition. The chapter also received a $500.00 Chapter Improvement Grant from the Texas FFA Alumni Association for their efforts. At the convention members also attended leadership workshops, listened to motivational speakers, elected state officers and attended a dance and a concert with over six thousand other FFA members from across the state.
